Military notes for Eduard Hartmann
Eduard was a professional soldier. On January 1st 1936 he joined the Navy. He was first stationed at the III. Schiffsstammabteilung der Nordsee, Wesermünde. Next, he participated in the Spanish civil war on board the Kreuzer Köln (1937-1939). From December 17th, - August 18th 1943 he was stationed on the U-Boot "U 953". Since September 19th 1943 he was stationed at the 1. U-Ausbildungsabteilung, Plön. Next, he was registered from September 19th 1944 - December 18th 1944 at the 4. U-Flottille (ohne Bootsangabe). Since September 19th 1944 he was at the 6. Kriegsschiffbaulehrabteilung, Bremen; Baubelehrung für"U 3014". His last grade was “Obersteuermann”. On August 12th, 1945 he was released from the British authorities with the registration U3014.
He received the “Spanienkreuz in Bronze” on June 6th 1939 and the “Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 01 .10.1938” on December 20th 1939.
