Today I participated in Alex’s PhD defense through a video conference setup. Worked very well and saved me four days in the airplane. Congratulations to Alex and technology.

Best Video Award at HRI2012
Our video entitled “Demonstrating Maori Haka with Kinect and Nao Robots” has received a Best-Video-Award at the HRI2012 conference. Congratulations to the team! The trophy is a gold painted KeepOn robot!
Facetree software wins award
Our Facetree software has been awarded third prize at the RootsTech Developer Challenge. Ellie Rasmus, lead developer, presented the software at the RootsTech conference in Salt Lake City and received the honour, including a cash prize of 1500 USD. We are very proud and excited about winning this award.
ICSR2011 conference in Amsterdam
I am at the ICSR2011 conference and I am satisfied with the conference venue, the attendance and the quality of the papers. Looks like our hard work payed off. The keynote of Takahashi-san was highly interesting and the dinner-cruise through Amsterdam worked out fine. Congrats to the team!
Aftershock
Today we experienced two large aftershocks. The university was evacuated and remains closed until at least tomorrow. I will be out of the office. We are all safe at home.
